Keeping your flowers fresh longer

Here are some tips we have put together to help you keep your flowers fresh.

Choose a vase that fits

Don't pack your flower stems in to the vase too tightly. Give them some space.

Cleanliness is next to godliness

Make sure your vase is sparkling clean! This is really important.  A little janola or bleach in the vase to clean it out will help. Don't use dishwashing liquid for your vases or a dishwasher - this will leave a residue.

Trim

Don't leave any leaves submerged in the water, before placing your flowers in the vase, snip about an inch from the bottom of each stem. Use sharp scissors to avoid squashing the stem. A nice clean cut will help the flowers to absorb the water.

Location, location, location

Place the vase of flowers out of direct sunlight and away from any heat sources.

You also want to keep them away from any drafts, such as ceiling fans. And as the ethylene gas produced by ripening fruit will wilt your flowers, place away from fruit bowls.

Refresh and repeat

Clean and snip every two days
